Lianyungang: The gas pipeline renovation project in Haizhou District is scheduled to be completed in October

Recently, at the gas pipeline renovation site in the courtyard of Xingfu Jiayuan Community in Haizhou District, construction workers are carrying out the renovation as planned. The project started in May this year and is scheduled to be completed in October. It is estimated that 1.2 million yuan will be invested. From 2021 to 2022, a total of about 61 kilometers of old pipelines will be renovated, with a combined investment of 47 million yuan in renovation funds. Dai Qiang, the operation director of Lianyungang ENN Gas Company, said.

The "Implementation Plan for the Renovation and Upgrading of Aging Urban Gas Pipelines and Other Facilities (2022-2025)" (referred to as the "Plan") issued by The General Office of the State Council proposes that in 2022, a number of aging renovation and upgrading projects should be initiated and implemented as soon as possible. By the end of 2025, the task of upgrading and renovating aging urban gas pipelines and other facilities will be basically completed. The relevant person in charge of the municipal housing and urban-rural development department stated that in 2022, the focus will be on renovating gray cast iron pipes over 15 years old, and evaluating the renovation of polyethylene (PE) pipes and steel pipes before 2000. By the end of October this year, the renovation of 3.5 kilometers of old outdoor gas pipelines in the urban area will be completed, and the renovation task will be accomplished three years ahead of schedule.

It is reported that the scope of the aging and renovation objects proposed in the "Plan" includes aging pipelines and facilities for urban gas, water supply, drainage, heating, etc., which are made of outdated materials, have a long service life, have safety hazards in the operating environment, and do not meet relevant standards and norms. In terms of gas pipelines, it includes all gray cast iron pipes in municipal and courtyard pipelines, ductile iron pipes that do not meet safety operation requirements, steel pipes that have been in operation for more than 20 years and have been assessed as having safety hazards, and polyethylene (PE) pipes, etc. At the same time, rubber hoses for residential users, safety devices that need to be installed, and pipelines and facilities with potential safety hazards for industrial and commercial users will also be updated.

At present, Lianyungang City has 13 pipeline natural gas operation enterprises. The total gas supply volume in 2021 was 656 million cubic meters. There are approximately 800,000 pipeline natural gas users, and the total length of natural gas pipelines is about 4,724.47 kilometers, including 338.88 kilometers of high-pressure, 2,016.84 kilometers of medium-pressure, and 2,368.75 kilometers of low-pressure. And it has been continuously extended to rural areas. After renovation and upgrading, the current service life of gas pipelines is basically less than 20 years. Among them, the gas pipelines in Lianyungang City that are over 20 years old are mainly concentrated in Haizhou District and have been basically renovated. In other counties and districts, due to their later construction years, they are mostly under 20 years old.

The relevant person in charge of the municipal housing and urban-rural development department stated that in 2021, 57.55 kilometers of old gas pipelines such as gray cast iron pipes and 12.75 kilometers of medium-pressure cast iron pipelines (including medium-pressure pipelines at the entrances within residential areas) were renovated, among which approximately 9.396 kilometers were medium-pressure pipelines for roads and municipal facilities. The low-pressure pipelines involve 101 residential areas and ancillary roads, totaling 44.75 kilometers, achieving a complete elimination of gray cast iron gas pipes in Lianyungang City.

Next, we will strengthen the supervision of urban gas pipeline network construction, continue to carry out pipeline assessment and renovation work in accordance with the relevant work requirements of the state, province and city, and urge enterprises to conduct regular hidden danger investigations. And assess key gas pipelines. For those with potential hazards or problems, coordinate funds to formulate work plans and carry out timely renovations." The relevant person in charge of the housing and urban-rural development department of Haizhou District said. (Reporter Chen Bing, Correspondent Yang Xun, Zhang Chao
